My mother was admitted into St. Joseph Candler hospital in December
07. She had a case of pneumonia. While there they treated her
and ran test to take care of the pneumonia. Then while
there they said she had enlarged lymph nodes in her lungs.
So they took test and eventually she was sent home. They said that
she had cancer. But from December to April,
this year before she went back into the hospital. She
underwent a non invasive outpatient surgery to implant something so
if she needed chemo it would make it easy. Meanwhile when she went back for
her next x ray her lab results came back not finding cancer
as well her lymph nodes were normal. My mother drove school buses
for children and is a very clean woman. Now the doctors have given us
the family the run around telling us she is critically ill since
she went back into the hospital with pneumonia again and
after a week & half on antibiotics vancomyocin
to be exact was told she had an mrsa infection.
The doctors allow us to see my mother yet still have not
explained the seriousness of the condition. Like we could become carriers
& other pertinent info. The nurses at the station do not
monitor her guest to her room closely so everyone doesn’t
wear gowns & masks. I am concerned shouldn’t I be? My
mother is my world yet I feel lost because
she went the hospital to get better but it seems from
the treatment she has received she is now fighting
for her life & for the current moment not getting
any better. She was not ill previously to her original pneumonia
bout. Since then she had been well. So confused and doubting health
care.
